Rohde & Schwarz cooperates with Interra Systems New software for analyzing H.264 signals

New software from Interra Systems for analyzing H.264-coded video data is now available through Rohde & Schwarz. The software is available as a single product and as an option for all instruments of the R&S DVM measurement platform. The R&S DVM family is a measurement system for monitoring, analyzing, recording, and generating MPEG-2 transport streams. By offering the software from Interra Systems, Rohde & Schwarz expands its product portfolio for TV measurement technology in the field of video and audio analysis. It thus provides users with an effective tool for the development and quality assurance of digital TV and multimedia applications of the latest generation, allowing them to significantly reduce development time and costs.

The H.264 analyzer from Interra Systems can be used either directly as an option on the instruments of the R&S DVM family. The software analyzes audio and video elementary streams and checks them for conformance to standard. For video, the new H.264 standard (MPEG-4 Part 10 AVC) is supported. In audio testing, signals with MPEG-1/2 layer 2, AAC and optional Dolby AC-3 coding can be analyzed. In addition to processing elementary streams, the software also analyzes signals that are available in the form of MPEG-2 transport or program streams. Moreover, the MP4 format and the 3GPP/3GPP2 formats, which are typical in mobile radio, are supported. Thus, the new option is an excellent add-on to the comprehensive transport stream and MPEG-2 video elementary stream analysis functionality of the R&S DVM family.

The instruments of the R&S DVM family are an ideal choice for network operators (satellite, cable, and terrestrial), operators of play-out centers, system integrators, and monitoring authorities. Plus, the R&S DVM400 high-end solution is just right for R&D applications.

From May 2007, the software analyzer from Interra Systems is available from Rohde & Schwarz as the R&S DVM-K200 H264 analyzer option.
